Artist Biography

Aarti Gupta Bhadauria is an Indian sculptor who creates sculptures in terracotta medium. She has completed bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with specialization in sculptures in the year 2004 from Gwalior, India. She has exhibited her sculptures on various platforms at both National and International levels.

Aarti has received wide appreciation and acceptance from connoisseurs of art across the world and many prizes including 2 "Best in Show" from Contemporary Art Gallery Online, USA. Her sculptures are rhythmic, abstract, and reflective waves of feelings and emotions in various forms. One cannot stop without looking all the angles, each angle depicts a different image. Sculpting and contouring bends and shadows and ever-changing curves and profiles with each slight turn to view.

People divide pottery into two main categories. Utilitarian pottery: designed for use in food or drink. Art pottery: that which can still have use but also becomes decorative for living spaces. And then, works such as Aarti's. Fine Art! This, hers, is no longer pottery. Aarti is an artist of Fine Art, sculpture, in the media of clay/terracotta. One can see the time, the eye, the hand of Aarti in every works of her, without seeing her name.

Artist Statement

"Sculpting the clay is to the sculptor as the paper is to the painter. In the delicate clay, the genius of the sculptor is found in its most extreme virtue and truth."

Sculpting with clay and giving it an abstract effect depicts how we look at something, but it always has an abstract meaning associated with it. When we are emotional, we feel different waves inside us, I show the different forms of these waves through my sculptures. My sculptures are aerial and without any armature. I maintain my own style in terracotta, and it takes me three to four months to make one sculpture. I wanted to do something different in life, so I decided to choose my own destination, and started working with terracotta. Terracotta is one of the ancient mediums for art, I want to promote it world-wide with modern ideas and my style. When I work, I get lost in it and does not feel my physical existence. My work is my soul.
