Christina Brunton is an award winning photographer and digital artist living in Australia. Fifteen years ago, Christina learned how to paint and later she took up photography as a way to capture images as a reference for her oil paintings. However, work commitments made it hard to find the time to paint. The idea was to take photos of beautiful scenes she saw whilst travelling and later paint them once she had time. However, she never went back to her oil painting, as photography took over.
It wasn't until recently that Christina discovered how photographs could be made into fine art that she was able to merge her passions of painting and photography. It has been a wonderful journey learning new skills and she never wants to stop learning.
Christina’s art starts with a photograph she has taken and then she enhances it digitally into fine art. Creating art for Christina is a meditation where she is so focused on the artistry that time stands still. Creating art is a way of life that sings to her and she hopes it touches the viewer’s emotional strings, their heart and soul.
Art, for me, starts with a photo I have taken and then enhanced digitally into fine art so that it tells a story. Creating art is a meditation where I am so focused on the artistry that time stands still. Initially I couldn’t even draw stick figures, but then I started oil painting, and then moved to photography, initially for reference photos for my paintings. It wasn’t until I was introduced to ‘Digital Artistry’ when I was able to bring my two passions together, photography and painting. For this exhibition, I concentrated on a series of steampunk images that were first photographed over various photoshoots. I hope you enjoy them and can see your own stories from the artwork.
