Below are Jai’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 artworks that were submitted to this competition.
Jai Keller is primarily a self-taught abstract painter. She studied with Nicholas Wilton for two years. Jai's main teachers have been the natural world and the mysteries of life and death. After studying ceramics and sculpture, Jai entered the world of abstract painting during a serious illness. It was during a moment of prayer to paint large paintings from the Source, that the paintings began to flow and teach Jai how to heal. Art became the medicine for healing and transformation.
After the sudden passing of Jai Keller's twin last year, Jai created this series "to finding her sister". These paintings transport to sacred temples of light and unknown worlds and realms. The artist is the creator and the created. Jai is the one who grieves and is held by the light. This series is a tribute to her sister. Before each act of art making, Jai makes an invocation to honor all of life and to serve all life.
Jai’s art can be viewed on her website.
