Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Brian Binder has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and he will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.

Brian is an award-winning artist based in Colorado, USA. He was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 25th Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified his art to be showcased in this feature.

Brian’s Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to hundreds of major news outlets, with inclusion on Google News & Bing News. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting his artwork in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.

Below are Brian’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 artworks that were submitted to this competition.

Artist Biography

Brian Binder is mostly a self-taught artist. He was raised in Colorado. In Colorado, you are surrounded by many different environments and animals. From plains to mountains and, yes, even sand dunes Brian’s focus is on wildlife and domestic animals in interesting and beautiful settings. He spends hours creating the soul of the animal through its eyes. The eyes are what gives the drawing it's heart and soul.

Brian usually sees the animal in one habitat and then draws them in a different environment that he thinks they would prefer to be in. Sometimes it is a shock what a drawing turn into because it is opposite of what he thought it might when he started. Brian only uses pencil and color pencils to create his works. He does not use solvents for blending in order not to damage the paper.

Brian hope everyone who views his work feel the enjoyment he gets out creating each piece.

Artist Statement

In my artwork, I try to capture the spirit of the animal. I like to invoke humor, deep thought, or positive vibes through the animal to the viewer.

Brian’s art can be found on his website.

Deimante is an Artist who is completely self-taught. She is breath taking realistic wildlife paintings of animals. Deimante works in a variety of media including acrylic, oil, pastel, watercolour, graphite and mixed media.

Artist Statement

“When it is my time to leave this world, I wish to do so knowing that I have left paintings that inspire others to appreciate the beauty of the natural world.”

I have been a lifelong artist. I've been drawing since I can remember. Art class has always been my favourite class. My style is realist, as I am obsessed with detail. I have always had a deep love of animals and nature. I find inspiration in all kinds of creatures, both domestic and wildlife, big, small, or in between.

My favourite subjects are wildlife. I love drawing animals as it is a way of accessing the secrets of the natural world. I can see their souls through their eyes, which I try to capture in my paintings. Animals are as individual as humans, but for me they manifest a purer and more genuine spirit to the outside world than do human beings. I can love animals by painting them, leaving a legacy of their existence and hopefully bringing to the viewer the same joy that I experience painting them.

I would like more people to be able to experience the connection that I have with animals. I wish to take this further to really convey that animals have their own personality and soul. Every portrait I do enriches my life, for the subject enters my heart. We are all connected. Connections are magical, providing an opportunity to nurture patience, compassion, love and caring.

Deimante’s work can be viewed on her website.

My paintings are mythical, deeply rooted in a place of spirituality, capturing the symbolism of animals and light. Distinguished by bold marks and contrast, as well as jewel-toned colors and the appearance of light, many of my works look as if they are glowing from within. The boldness of my process combined with the use of symbolic imagery and the juicy richness of the oil paint create art that exudes spirituality and the ethereal.

I want my artwork to inspire wonder and help you connect with what makes you powerful. If my paintings can illuminate the passions and destiny that stir within you, I have fulfilled my purpose. You have value and worth and your life has profound significance. May my artwork remind you that you are a magical being who can change the world.

Below is Catherine’s Artist Biography and her Artist Statement, along with 15 of her artworks.  We hope that you will take the time to read Catherine’s information and to take a look at his artwork.

Artist Biography

Catherine Kirkwood has been painting since she was a child. At age 12 she began oil painting lessons and art was her passion all through school. She attended the School of Art at Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y. She also spent a year at the California College of the Arts in Oakland, Ca. and received her B.A. in drawing from the University of New Mexico. She continued at the University of New Mexico and received her M.A. in painting in 1974. From there she moved to New York where she worked and painted for several years before moving to Santa Fe, N.M. where she currently resides. She has shown nationally and won numerous awards for her work.

Catherine has always been a realist and her work is involved in images from the natural world. For many years she painted the southwest landscape and then became intrigued with water. She has painted water gardens over many decades and after a two year move to Miami, Florida began using plants and flowers in her work. In the past year she has been photographing at a local flower farm which has resulted in large canvases of flowers enlarged beyond their true size.

Complexity is a feature of Catherine’s work. She involves herself with detail and the paintings are full. It is the artist’s hope that the viewer will be able to visit a painting many times and still find new elements to explore visually.

Artist Statement

I have been painting for as long as I can remember and don’t think I ever seriously considered any other path in life other than that of an artist. I lived in New York City for several years in my mid-twenties but am happier in the country. My work is rooted in nature and that is where I gain inspiration. I have always been drawn to realism although I am straying further away from strict adherence to the photograph as I progress along in my career. I spent years drawing but a brush is really my most natural tool. The color and richness of oil paint along with the extended period of workability make it my favorite medium.

I grew up on the East Coast and spent my summers swimming and in the winter, I walked the beach for solitude and contemplation. My series of water paintings started in Santa Fe in the desert southwest, away from water. I am drawn to the quiet and “otherworldliness” of water, the sense of things hidden in the depths. I am visually fascinated by the different layers one sees when looking at the water—the reflections of the sky, the movement on the surface and the abstraction of what is below the surface. Water lilies and koi add another dimension of color and form above and under the water.

I consider myself an interpreter of nature and as an artist, someone who greatly appreciates the beauty of nature through using it as my model.

Artist Biography

Lorna Beecroft has had a life-long joy of creating using fabric, wood, and fiber. Her journey into painting and drawing began in 2016 when she finally had time to immerse herself in these art forms. She has followed her own educational path, gaining experience by attending workshops with world-class artists and through self-directed courses. This combined with hours and hours of practice has taken her to where she is today, with so much more to try out and perfect.

Her favorite mediums are acrylics, oils, graphite, charcoal, conte, pencil crayons, and pastels. Each one has such unique properties and produces wonderfully different outcomes.

Lorna has been an animal lover for as long as she can remember, finding great joy in the company of all animals. So naturally, her favorite subjects are the animals she has spent so many hours with, in particular horses, cats, and dogs. For Lorna, the joy of creating is watching the subject(s) slowly appear out of the canvas or paper as if they have a will and life of their own. She believes the eyes are the mirror into their souls and is only satisfied when the viewer is able to dive into the piece and connect with the true spirit of each animal.

Artist Statement

I love to create & love animals even more. My goal is to have the viewer see animals the way I do, admiring and loving them for their spirit and beauty. I spend many, many hours working on each piece with that hope always foremost.
