SAN DIEGO, CA – May 4, 2015 - / Danielle Nelisse is pleased to announce that her artworks have been selected for the show, "50 TO WATCH", a regional juried art exhibit at The Studio Door gallery in San Diego, California.
The Studio Door exhibit will continue until May 15, 2015. The jurors were Stephen C. Wagner of the Arc Gallery in San Francisco and Patti Brady, Director for Golden's Working Artist Program. http://thestudiodoor.com.
Nelisse's use of color and line express her inner reflections about the struggle by humans to deal with urbanization, climate change, and natural disasters.
Her newest series, entitled "Wildfires," was inspired when nine wildfires simultaneously surrounded her art studio in May 2014 in Southern California. The sky became dark with charred ash. While painting the first two art pieces (Wildfires I and Wildfires II) on two canvases side-by-side, her family members checked in over the phone to make sure she was ok. The massive wildfires were fed for days by the hot Santa Ana winds that blew in from the desert.
