Michael is an international award-winning artist based in Colorado, USA. He will now be promoted by the gallery with an extensive public relations campaign.

For this solo exhibition, the Gallery will distribute, promote and circulate press releases to hundreds of major news outlets, art news websites and through Light Space & Time’s broad social media network. Michael’s art will also be featured on the gallery’s YouTube Channel and with an event postcard.

The “Solo Art Series” is a series of monthly solo art exhibitions for established artists who have a body of work to present to the public.  Artist participants were asked to submit the following 3 components for the “Solo Art Series” competition: 1. Their art.  2. Their artist biography.  3.  Their artist statement.  These elements were evaluated and judged, which resulted in the selection of the artists who are featured in individual month-long solo art exhibitions.

Below are Michael’s Artist Biography, his Artist Statement, along with 25 of his landscape paintings. We hope that you will take the time to read Michael’s information and to take a look at his art.

Artist Biography

Michael Gault has known he wanted to be an artist from the age of seven. While other boys were out playing sports, he was taking art courses focused on learning to draw. He has experimented with many visual art forms and is adept with most of them, but oil painting is his calling. He is a classically trained Colorado Artist with two studio degrees, a BFA in from the Kansas City Art Institute and an MA in Fine Art from the University of Missouri in Kansas City.

The creative process excites Michael. He enjoys any activity that allows him to utilize the left side of his brain and his imagination. Spatial orientation and visualization allow his inventive nature to construct serenity and drama in his mind, and his use of essential painting techniques transfer those mind-moments into his landscapes.

Gault has an extensive exhibition history throughout Colorado, New Mexico, Missouri, Kansas and California and has won many awards in juried events and regional competitions, throughout the years. Over 125 of his paintings are featured in The Arrabelle at Vail Square, a luxury hotel & spa in Vail, CO. He has taught college art and graphic designs course in three states as well as workshops and seminars on painting, drawing, printmaking and building a portfolio. He has a YouTube channel that is presented from his studio with practical and professional information for artists early in their creative journeys.

Artist Statement

The Artist Statement is intended to express my interest and love of art, for both the process as well as the challenge. I love the creative process, whether it is painting representational landscapes or plein‐air works or creating free‐ association non‐representational paintings, it is all about the process.

I know that the artist process of problem solving and self‐discovery is always evolutionary and compelling. I believe all creative endeavors are life‐affirming expressions of the human experience. I have been in my artistic journey for 50 years now, and I am as excited and passionate about art today as I was at the beginning of my journey. The evolutionary aspects of painting contribute to my individual growth fueling my creative fire.

The process of painting is physically fulfilling – the way the paint feels when it is being applied and the gestural quality of painting is unlimited. I believe creativity should be shared not only through commercial patronage, also with the sharing of this creative experience and the process of art making. I believe that it is vital for individual artists to gather and share ideas and to discuss problems. I learn whether I am the student or the teacher. And I believe that the creative experience isn’t fulfilled until a spectator views the painting and is able to interact with it.
