After the opening of this Artist Showcase, it was brought to our attention that the artworks submitted were not the work of the artist.

We investigated the matter and determined that the artist did, in fact, submit work that was not her own. It was the work of several different artists and was deliberately submitted deceptively.

Therefore we have removed this Artist Showcase from the Light Space Time website.

We work very hard to do our due diligence when jurying work that is submitted to all of our art competitions and accepted into all of our art exhibitions. However, we work on the honor system. Due to the time constraints of running a website that hosts as many competitions/exhibitions as we do each year, it is simply not possible to independently verify each individual artwork that is submitted. Therefore, we have to assume artists are being honest and honorable when they submit artwork to our competitions.

Regardless, at the bottom of every one of our entry forms, before artists can complete their entry, they must click a box affirming that the work they are submitting is their own and they own the copyright to the work. We require this to enter all of our art competitions on both the LST website and its parent company, Fusion Art's website.

Here is the verbiage on the entry forms:

I Own the Copyrights to These Image(s) and I am authorized to upload them to this art competition. Also, I have Read, Understand and Agree to all of the Rules, the Terms of Service & the Privacy Policy to this Art Competition and to LIGHTSPACETIME.ART. I agree that by entering this art competition I am "opting in" to Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery's email list. I also agree that I understand that entry fees are NOT refundable under any circumstances, including if my artwork is not selected for inclusion in the exhibition. If I do not agree to these terms, I will not submit my artwork for consideration.

We, at Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery and Fusion Art, take copyright infringement and stealing the work of other artists very seriously. Under NO circumstances do we allow stolen or copyright infringed artwork on our websites. Any time a question arises regarding copyright, we immediately take action and investigate. Then we take the appropriate action and remove any and all work in question from the website. We will continue to do so as protecting artists and their work is our most important mission.

Thank you and, as always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Ferenc Csurgai has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and he will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.

Ferenc is an award-winning artist based in Hungary. He was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 26th Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified his art to be showcased in this feature.

Ferenc’s Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to hundreds of major news outlets, with inclusion on Google News & Bing News. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting her artwork in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.

Below are Ferenc’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 artworks that were submitted to this competition.

Artist Biography

Ferenc Csurgai is a sculptor and painter, a graduate of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts (1984). His work is a testament to innovation, marked by an unconventional medium choice: concrete. This fascination has redefined my artistic identity, challenging the perception of concrete as merely rigid and heavy, and transforming it into ethereal, light, and transparent creations.

Ferenc’s choice of reinforced concrete is more than a medium; it's a canvas for scientific and artistic experimentation. Throughout his explorations, he developed a unique weather-resistant concrete composite, a blend of art and innovation, which has been recognized with Hungarian and European patents. This groundbreaking material not only enhances the longevity of his artwork but also holds potential applications in the construction industry.

2023 was a landmark year for exhibitions. Ferenc participated in group shows like 'Faces of Concrete 8.0 Industrial Silence' at Nick Gallery, Pécs, 'Occupation of Space' at the VI. Sculpture Biennale, MANK Gallery, Szentendre, and 'Osas Plus No.2' at Vasarely Museum, Budapest. A significant highlight was his solo exhibition 'Concrete²'. His artistic philosophy centers on the paradox of using robust concrete to create delicate, translucent forms. This not only defies conventional views of the material but also symbolizes art's transformative power. Ferenc’s vision is to continue pushing the boundaries of material and form, creating art that resonates with both aesthetic beauty and functional innovation.

Artist Statement

In the realm of art, I find myself drawn to the exploration of the balance between the tangible and the intangible. My work is a journey through geometric-organic structures, where I seek to understand and represent the intricate dance between materiality and spirituality.

Why I Create: My art is born from a deep curiosity about the world and our place within it. It's an exploration of my favorite material, inspired by ancient cultures and the practice of introspective contemplation. This journey is not just about external observations but a profound introspection, encompassing all that I experience and know.

How I Create: My process is experimentation with concrete, an unusual, resistant, hard and heavy material that I bend the force to express organic, geometric forms. The techniques I employ are not just about crafting art but about refining finding the boundaries of material.

What My Art Means to Me: My creations are not just objects of beauty but symbols of my inner transformations and realizations. Each piece is a step towards understanding myself and the world around me in its most authentic form.

Conciseness and Clarity: I believe in the power of simplicity. My art is a silent conversation with the viewer, an invitation to explore the depths of human experience without the need for elaborate words or explanations. It's an open-ended dialogue, where what I see in my creations might differ from what others perceive, and that's the beauty of it.

Ferenc’s art can be viewed on his website.
