The “Solo Art Series” is a series of monthly solo art exhibitions for established artists who have a body of work to present to the public. Artist participants were asked to submit the following 3 components for the “Solo Art Series” competition; 1. Their art. 2. Their artist biography. 3. Their artist statement. These elements were evaluated and judged, which resulted in the selection of the artists who will be featured in individual month-long solo art exhibitions. This was the eighth “Solo Art Series” Art Competition the gallery has conducted.
Below is Paola’s Artist Biography, her Artist Statement, along with 15 of her artworks. We hope that you will take the time to read Paola’s information and to take a look at her beautiful and stimulating art.
My work has always been around the horse and the woman. Surely looking to reflect my passion towards this noble animal and representing me in one way or another. I'm Italian. I rescue horses. I paint what is born to me, what connects me, what I feel. I'm autodidactic.
Art is still a powerful connection to how we express our thoughts and ideas, being a protagonist and source of unpredictable imagination. It opens the door to other worlds, other ways of thinking or simply connects you with something of yours, in the most unexpected way.
The use of materials is varied. Mixed. Elaborate. Often combined with images and color games that together have the purpose of saying something. To provoke the spectator and leave it to his imagination inspires me.
The passion for colors and painting is something that I practice from a young age. A little inculcated by my mother and a little from all the traveling; submerging myself into various and completely different cultures.
I come from a cradle swung by the loving arms of a Spanish mother and an Italian father. From a home where the main value is the family and the admiration for the beauty of things found in what is usually taken for granted or unappreciated. A home where to speak with words is not enough. Where the eyes, the hands, the heart and the intonation of the voice mark the difference and reveal origins.
I get here in the most innocent way. With the curiosity to try and know how well accepted my work is. A simple painting filled with color, expression and most of all, emotion. A painting that tries to collect perhaps the past lives or the magical cultures which inspire me in such a way, leading to the creation of this type of artwork.
Thank you for going through this game of art and read me among the many artists that are part of this magical world full of feelings, which leave everything to the interpretation of the viewer. Her Website: https://www.virtualgallery.com/galleries/paola_moscatelli_a1927416.
