Barbara Mierau-Klein is a digital artist recognized for her multi-layered, imaginative and colorful fine art images. A native of Germany, Barbara now lives in the Washington, D.C. area but often travels the world as a passionate landscape and nature photographer since her teenage years.
Barbara discovered digital art several years ago and became so fascinated that it turned into a full-time pursuit. Much of Barbara’s work is highly stylized and focuses on beautiful moments and evocative moods across a wide range of subjects. The inspiration for her images comes from many sources like books, song lyrics, movies, nature, and works of other artists, old masters as well as contemporary digital artists.
Barbara’s work has been exhibited at the Heaven Art Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona and the Orenda Gallery in Reno, Nevada. She has had eight top-ten placements in online juried art competitions at the Light Space Time Art Gallery and Fusion Art Gallery over the past year. Her work has also appeared regularly in Living the Photo Artistic Life Magazine and Fine Eye Magazine with a feature article on her work in August 2018.
With her digital art creations, Barbara seeks to impart a sense of wonder and invite the viewer to step into a different reality for a brief moment.
I love to create multi-layered, imaginative and very colorful digital art that invites the viewer to step into a different reality for a brief moment. I am fascinated by the beauty of colors and by the moods and emotions they evoke. I often use very vibrant energizing colors to express vitality and joy, or soothing dreamy hues to impart a sense of mystery and wonder.
My images tend to be highly stylized but still center on recognizable, familiar subjects, ranging from cityscapes to nature and people. I add complexity and intrigue to my art through an imaginative layering of the original photography, whimsical or even surreal elements, rich textures, and other effects.
I love the creative possibilities of digital art that allow me to design something new that transcends the underlying photography and takes me to a different world. I hope my art captures your imagination as well, resonates with you, and makes you pause and wonder if only for a moment. Barbara’s website: www.barbaramierauklein.com
Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Julia Harwood has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and she will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.
Julia Harwood is an Australian based digital artist and photographer. Julia creates landscape photographs and healing photoart. Julia was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists of the gallery’s recent Solo Art Exhibition Series #9. The placement in this competition qualified her photography to be showcased in this feature.
Julia’s Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to over 350+ major news outlets, with inclusion on Google News & Bing News. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting her photography in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.
Below are Julia’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 images that were submitted to this competition.
Julia is a digital artist and photographer who has worked in the photography industry for many years. She started in the film days and progressed to digital. She is a also a photography coach and critic. She held this position with Digital Photo Secrets for over 4 years.
She joined Photoshop Artistry and then the Awake Program and is now a member of Kaizen and it is through this that she has discovered her love of digital art. Her motto is: "Healing Art - bringing the outdoors in".
She has learnt that photography and digital art can be very healing and a lot of people don't have the access to beautiful scenery as she does, so she wants to bring it to them no matter what environment they live in. She donates her work to hospitals to help brighten the lives, lift the spirits and help heal those who are either patients or visitors.
She loves that she can express feelings and emotions through her digital artistry work while also still capturing purely photographic images for those who prefer that.
Julia suffered a double tragedy in 2016/17 with her house being burnt to the ground and losing all her possessions followed by the death of her husband 4 months later. She found that one of the things that helped her through this was being able to express herself through her digital art.
Digital art has provided me with a unique vehicle to express feelings and emotions and to open the door for others to feel heard and validated when they resonate with an image I have created.
It allows me to share with you the feeling that I had when I visited a place or how I was feeling at the time I created the artwork.
I have suffered a great deal of personal tragedy and a lot of my art has come about as I have worked through these things.
I create the images by taking photos and then combining them using different layers and blending modes to create the final image. Some images have well over 100 layers.
This art is a way that I can reach out and connect with people, all suffering and joy is universal in that we all pass through the different phases of life and I hope that what I am feeling also resonates with what you are feeling or have felt.
