PRINCETON, NJ – June 22, 2017 - / Mary Sue Veerkamp-Schwab is very pleased to announce that her watercolor painting, "The Sacred Dance" will be featured at the 48th annual Garden State Watercolor Society juried exhibition in Princeton, NJ, from June 22 to August 18, 2017.
“The Sacred Dance,” Mary Sue says, “was created when I was invited to witness the Hopi Butterfly Ceremony on the Second Mesa of the Hopi Reservation in Arizona. Light in that part of Arizona is completely different from other areas in the U.S. and the vivid colors of the handmade headwear and wardrobe against the ancient dusty buildings was my inspiration. Only the spontaneity of watercolor could capture the joy these girls exuded from being a part of this ceremonial dance.”
The exhibition will take place at the D & R Greenway, 1 Preservation Place, in Princeton, NJ. For further information on this event contact Tess Fields, tessiefields@gmail.com and their website www.gswcs.com. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, June 22nd, 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM
