Viktoriya Tudoran-Opanasenko was born in the industrial city of Mykolaiv (Ukraine). She has been interested in drawing since childhood, but the social environment where she grew up made her understand very early that being an artist was not the best choice to earn a living. Therefore, she gave up drawing for over 20 years.
In 2003, Viktoriya received a master’s degree in computer science, graduating from The Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding in Mykolaiv, and she has worked as a computer scientist ever since. In 2015, while working as a university lecturer, Viktoriya published a student course book titled Human-Computer Interaction.
In 2015, Viktoriya and her husband moved to Poland. As it was a time of change in many areas of her life, she also got back to her childhood interest in drawing and learnt it from books. Initially, sketching was just a tool to improve drawing techniques, but soon it became a passion. As Viktoriya puts it, “In our dynamic world, sketching allows us to quickly capture the place’s atmosphere. So I draw how I see and feel this place. Grey Warsaw, at first glance, with an unbelievable combination of disharmonic styles inspired me to draw, and it has never been grey to me since then.”
Urban environment cannot exist without people. Each window, each restaurant table captures a lot of people’s emotions, feelings, and secrets. Viktoriya presents them on canvas. Today, Viktoriya is a Senior Software Engineer in an international company.
Women state in any society is often controversial. Since times immemorial there were a lot of requirements what to wear, what to do, where to go to deserve respect or at least kind attitude. Even today in Europe, when the common tendency is tolerance, inclusivity, equality, diversity, what is the image, of the most respectful woman? Usually they are one time married, have short haircuts and prefer strait business suits. At the same time men could allow funny haircut or strange ties, half-naked photos and still be powerful.
The oil figurative series "Women Nude In The Moonlight" was an approach to research, is there any way to show a woman body and keep respect to the personality.
