With memberships in the Portrait Society of America and the Canada Artists Association, she's achieved international exhibition success and critical acclaim for her art, which frequently explores themes of memory, fragility, and relationship dynamics.
Her artistic accomplishments include winning silver at the 2023 and 2024 INNOART PRIZE International Art Competitions, and three American Art Awards in 2024. Prestigious global venues and publications have exhibited Liao's art, which includes a series featuring old objects and portraits of notable figures like singer Dou Wei.
Two themes I'm currently working on have become interesting.
One is about the creation of old (antique) materials. The reason is that I found several old Chinese paintings from the last century that my grandfather left me when I was a child. Some old German cameras and other objects inspired my interest in antiques collections, and in gradually coming into contact with these old objects, I discovered that different materials emitted different glows and a rich sense of history over the years. My knowledge and my aesthetics have expanded completely differently. Their beauty and charm are far from the existence of modern crafts and art.
Second, it is about two sexual relationship and parent child relationship. Sex relations are eternal human subjects, and everybody can't escape them. Focusing on children's inner and emotional development has become my latest experience and focus. The environment in which children live and their personal fate are closely related to the ecosphere in which they live.
I began to focus on children displaced after the war, on children out of school, on abandoned children, on children whose social problems prevented them from growing up properly. The sad fate of the unfortunate children in the social media is like a sad song that makes me sad, anxious and scared.
