The Gallery will also provide social media distribution through LST gallery’s broad social media network.

In addition, as part of his award package, Robert will also be featured on the gallery’s YouTube Channel and with an event postcard.

The “Solo Art Series” is a series of monthly solo art exhibitions for established artists who have a body of work to present to the public.  Artist participants were asked to submit the following 3 components for the “Solo Art Series” competition: 1. Their art.  2. Their artist biography.  3.  Their artist statement.  These elements were evaluated and judged, which resulted in the selection of the artists who will be featured in individual month-long solo art exhibitions.  This was the 25th “Solo Art Series” Art Competition that the gallery has conducted.

Below are Robert’s Artist Biography, his Artist Statement, along with 20 of his photographs.  We hope that you will take the time to read Robert’s information and to take a look at his beautiful “Life Along the Amazon” photography series.

Artist Biography

Robert first experience in photography was when he was offered the opportunity to be mentored in basics of film photography and darkroom techniques including such archival techniques as wet plate photography and large format film photography. He carried this experience into his academic career as a biologist using photography in his teaching and research where he used photo and electron-microscopy, and image analysis to study genetics.

Upon retirement Robert moved to digital photography and the digital darkroom and turned his focus to nature and street photography; areas in which he directs his viewer to see the relationship of the arts and sciences and where he uses the digital darkroom to emulate archival techniques of film photography such as the orotype developed by Edward Curtis.

Robert views the photograph as his “novel” to be read by the imagination of the viewer and thus he crafts the photograph for this purpose. He is interested in showing how cultures may differ but are much the same. His work has been exhibited in physical and on-line galleries via competitions and in solo exhibits at St. Louis Artist Guild, Bradley University, at EuroBiotech Conference in Poznan, Poland, among others He has been in curated exhibits and was awarded 3rd place in the 2022 Fall Exhibition at the International Photographic Hall of Fame and Museum. He is a featured artist at Camelback Galleries and has been Artist of the month in Gallery Ring on-line gallery.

Artist Statement

The photograph must tell a story, not just the story seen by the photographer, but the story read through the imagination of the viewer, it is a pictorial novel. It has a purpose and like a book it becomes a storage place of ideas and events and a teaching tool. In many years as a biologist, using photography as a research and teaching tool, I realized that there is a close relationship between science and the arts.

Clearly photography can be used to teach this relationship. While the relationship is easily captured in nature photography it also can be found in human societal and cultural differences. Thus, one of my goals is to use photography to show that even though cultures may differ they also are much the same and that we should see this sameness as we address worldly issues. I try to show this through photography of indigenous peoples in their native culture, involved in their daily tasks of living.

The photographic technique used by Edward Curtis and contemporary photographers to capture the story and history of native Americans as they were driven from their lands onto reservations in the late 1800’s has my attention. This method of the orotype or gold type photograph brings the viewer’s eye to the main element of the photograph while subduing the background and opens the imagination to his or her reading of the story being told.

Robert’s work can be viewed on his website.

Below are Nic’s Artist Biography, her Artist Statement, along with 25 of her artworks.  We hope that you will take the time to read Nic’s information and to take a look at her beautiful animal oil paintings.

Artist Biography

Over the years, Nic Tibo has always been drawn to arts, drawing and crafts. She has experimented several techniques: fashion design, decorative painting on ceramic pieces as well as different mediums: watercolor, acrylic and oil painting.

Today, she creates original art works painted in oil on gallery canvas in a realistic figurative style with sometimes a touch of abstract. You will find sober colors to very colorful work of art. The subjects represented are mostly photographed by the artist.

Nicole has taken many art workshops: Oil painting - Réjane Parizeault artist / Watercolor – watercolor artist Jean-Yves Guindon /Figure and Portrait Drawing – Ottawa School of Art / Decorative painting / Fashion design – Robinson Academy / Owner – ceramic pieces’ workshop: decoration, training, sale / Photography – Marsan College.

She has participated in artistic events to exhibit her paintings including exhibitions at the residence “Sage au piano” in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, she won "Public's Favorite" prize at the 8th Art Competition of Lake Superior's Municipality, with the theme Wilderness. In 2023, a wolf painting was chosen by Society of Canadian Artists for their Open International Online Juried Exhibition. and two paintings was also chosen for their 55th Open International Online Juried Exhibition. She participated at the Pelham Art Festival and an exhibition at Marché Bon Secours, Montreal (Plaisirs d'artistes).

Artist Statement

My interest in the arts has always been present in various forms: drawing, painting, photography but today I realize my artistic ambitions: paint my subjects realistically, in oil paint. Painting is for me a testimony to nature that I just love. It is my main source of inspiration: landscapes, flowers and first and foremost, birds and animals.

My process begins with observing birds and wildlife in their environment. Also, visits to animal parks and sanctuaries enables me to take many pictures of various interesting species. Following my observations and research, the work takes shape several months in advance in my head. Afterwards, creation is made on canvas, closest to reality, while going into the different steps related to oil painting: layer's superposition and drying time.

Work is from background to foreground - from general to specific, striving to create something that is captivating and enjoyable to watch. The composition is edited ad manipulated until satisfaction and the main objective is to create a painting that has a sense of depth. Each painting is an opportunity for me to play with colors, lights and shadows in order to reflect this magic that only painting can manage to create.

Nic’s work can be viewed on her website.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Gabiko IoMo has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and she will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.

Gabiko is an award-winning artist based in Canada. Gabiko was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 25th Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified her art to be showcased in this feature.

Gabiko’s Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to hundreds of major news outlets, with inclusion on Google News & Bing News. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting her artwork in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.

Below are Gabiko’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 artworks that were submitted to this competition.

Artist Biography

Skillful in various crafts, Gabiko IoMo — European blend naturalized in Canada (Montreal) — has always practiced art in one form or another. In the last decade, she become a digital painter and built a very consistent portfolio. Her unique technique and style have been rewarded with prizes in numerous art competitions. She participated in an international group exhibition and her paintings are in private collections.

Gabiko paints, by small patches, on black background — sometimes covering it completely, other times creating outbursts of unexpected meanings — where the gloss or roughness of the surfaces bring a touch of realism to the chaos of the abstract. Using only basic old software (and the mouse to draw), she’s playing with volumes and lights, keeping forms in balance and hues in harmony. Everything around — shadows, sounds, perfumes, textures — can inspire her and joyful, vibrating spots of life (ready to be used) fill her insomnia when it is dark outside.

The artworks of Gabiko IoMo — invariably square — are fashioned with exuberant colours and some of them may have a militant message or a hint of irony.

Artist Statement

I believe art is essential for humanity: it reflects the mind, the soul and the philosophy of each nation and its expression punctuates the history.

I like everything related to creative activities requiring genius, but what make me vibrate are images. Being familiar with computers, it was easy for me to pass from the art crafts that I practiced for long years to the revolutionary digital art — the more so as when I paint, everything else disappears. It’s only me, the mouse and my subject.

And the subject, I can understand it deeply (since it imposes itself to my feelings). I know exactly how it will look once transferred on canvas: I "see" the whole as if it were ready and framed. It only remains to materialize what had germinated in the imagination. I work nonstop (always following a plan) and my creations are full of colour and joy — strong, sometimes hyperbolic, always honest. It is possible that my art will not please the public, but it will not go unnoticed.

Gabiko’s art can be found on her website.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Gwynneth Green has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and she will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.

Gwynneth is an award-winning artist based in New Jersey, USA. Gwynneth was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 25th Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified her art to be showcased in this feature.

Below are Gwynneth’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 artworks that were submitted to this competition.

Artist Biography

Gwynneth Green is an artist who uses the camera and the written word. A published poet with fifteen poetic publications and has been featured in exhibitions in the mid-Atlantic region as well as virtual ones. She has participated in ekphrastic collaborations with visual artists. Approaching the synergic nature of the word and the image fascinated her, her piqued interest encouraging her to wed her poems with her photographs. Her careful use of color and focus mimics imaginative prose as it guides viewers through the scene.

Artist Statement

Initially, when I take photos there is no particular intention. It is upon review on the computer, when the creativity begins. I disassemble and restructure the image using a variety of techniques. At times using more than one photo, working to create a captivating mood. During the process is when the poetry ignites. Inspired by the underlying feeling of the photo, an expression is formed as a haiku, 6-word poem or short poetic flow. These words are subtly melded into the photo allowing the viewer a moment of discovery when the narrative reveals itself, in the photo/musings.

Gwynneth’s art can be found on her website.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Elizabeth Darlington has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and she will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.

Elizabeth is an award-winning artist based in the United Kingdom. Elizabeth was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 25th Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified her art to be showcased in this feature.

Elizabeth’s Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to hundreds of major news outlets, with inclusion on Google News & Bing News. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting her artwork in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.

Below are Elizabeth’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 artworks that were submitted to this competition.

Artist Biography

Elizabeth Darlington grew up in a rural environment where clear night skies prompted her fascination in space. Her natural inquisitiveness grew to explore how all things in the Universe are connected. The natural world was also a significant part of her development; her appreciation of this was an important part of her life.

As a teenager, Salvador Dali was her favourite artist, but studying the Great Masters at A Level and for her Degree, she became particularly interested in the hidden symbology and use of geometry by Leonardo da Vinci. Another significant influence was Turner and his revolutionary use of light.

Elizabeth rarely paints in full light, preferring to lead the viewer from the shadows into the work where the focal point is illuminated. Since early childhood, Elizabeth has experienced ‘visions’. These experiences have imprinted her mind with extraordinary colours, feelings and energy.

In 2014, she opened her own gallery, but after just 12 months, she had to close the doors to overcome cancer. Elizabeth has had near-death-experiences several times during her life. One time was during childbirth, when both she and her daughter nearly died. The most recent was in August 2021, when she suffered severe Covid complications, pneumonia and sepsis. During her time in ICU, she experienced many powerful visions assisting with her healing. She has endeavoured to portray these in her artwork since her remarkable recovery.

Artist Statement

Each picture is providing the connectivity with nature, each other, and the wider Universe. Over the years, I have experimented with a variety of media including soft pastels, oil pastels, acrylic paints and inks, oils, encaustic wax, poured acrylic medium and texture gels. One of my favourite materials to work with is gold leaf – this is representative that all gold found on Earth (and in her paintings) was once an exploded star, billions of years ago.

I’ve developed my own painting medium by combining acrylic inks with other acrylic based substances, enabling her to vary the viscosity and texture. Words – which I believe have energy - are very much an inherent part of my creations. Many paintings start with words embedded onto the canvas, before I start painting over them. These words are symbolic and emotive. They are never seen as part of the finished work, but their energy becomes part of the work as they are the intentions and emotions felt during the initial creative process.

Each painting is intended to prompt an emotional feeling in the viewer, according to their own mental/emotional state. They are designed to remind the viewer of forgotten aspects of themselves, and open doors in their minds to everything that they need, right there within themselves.

The gallery received 546 entries from 29 different countries from around the world, as well as from 32 different states and the District of Columbia.

The exhibition has been divided into two media categories - Painting & Other Media and Photography & Digital categories.  Due to a limited number of 3 Dimensional entries, these artworks have been included in the Painting & Other Media category. In addition, there is an overall Winning Artists Category, which is the “best of the best” and consists of the twelve (12) best entries comprised from all the media categories.

The gallery also included Special Merit awards and Special Recognition awards for outstanding art. Many of the artists in either of these groups could have easily been included in the upper tier of our winners, as their art was also exceptional.

All winning entries will now be featured on the Light Space & Time website homepage for the 3 months. Thereafter, the artworks will remain online in the Light Space & Time Archives. To see exhibitions prior to January 2022, please visit our LST Archives website.

Artist Statement

I'm a self-taught photo artist living in Australia I have always felt passionate about animals and wildlife and through my love of photography I am able to draw inspiration for creating art. My camera is my tool to capture that moment in time and then the creative process begins with Photoshop and various software to create a compelling work of art.

My latest series of art captures that moment in time between horse and rider. I am hoping it shows the bond that exists between the two in any equestrian discipline. The hours of practice the hard falls and the great wins are all part of the bond whether you ride for competition or pleasure. I love people to step back and ask if what I created is a painting or photo. All part of my photographic art journey.

Lyn’s art can be found on her website.
