The “Solo Art Series” highlights the work of established artists, who have a body of work to showcase, through a series of online monthly solo exhibitions. Artist participants were asked to submit the following 3 components for the “Solo Art Series” competition: 1. Their art. 2. Their artist biography. 3. Their artist statement. A careful evaluation of the submissions led to the selection of four artists for month-long solo shows, ensuring a diverse range of artistic styles and approaches would be featured.
Presented below are Moti's artist biography and statement, together with 15 of his recycled materials assemblage sculptures. We encourage you to peruse Moti's information and admire his art.
Artist Moti Bazak transforms discarded materials into evocative, often abstract works that reflect on the existential tensions of modern life. What others leave behind becomes his raw language—reassembled, “repaired,” and reimagined into new visual narratives.
Born in Ukraine and raised in Israel, Moti developed a distinctive self-taught approach rooted in the act of reclaiming and reshaping abandoned objects. This process—part restoration, part reinvention—remains central to his work today.
His art has been exhibited primarily across Europe and has received several awards. Moti currently lives and creates in Italy, continuing to explore the boundaries between material, memory, and meaning.
I was still a child when I had the unsettling realization—that something in the world was not quite right; that things, somehow, needed to be mended. Years later, this quiet awareness continues to guide my work.
In my art, I return to that impulse to “fix” by gathering discarded fragments of wood, metal, and paper—materials that have reached the end of their intended lives, abandoned and forgotten. Each fragment carries its own morphology and concealed presence; its colors, textures, scars, and abrasions speak softly of a past existence.
At a certain moment, these disparate elements—once unrelated—are brought together, displaced from their original context, and allowed to converge into a new form. Within this transformation, they begin a kind of afterlife, reassembled into a work that holds both memory and renewal.
This act of mending and reimagining is, for me, deeply grounding. It offers a sense of quiet restoration—one that I hope resonates beyond the work itself and reaches those who encounter it.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Huaixuan Xiang has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and she will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.
Huaixuan is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning artist and illustrator based in New York, USA. She was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 33rd Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified her work to be showcased in this feature.
Her Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to hundreds of major news outlets. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting her artwork in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.
Below are Huaixuan’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 of her Rule of Dreams series of oil paintings submitted to this competition.
Huaixuan Xiang is a New York-based illustrator, painter, and occult practitioner who graduated from the School of Visual Arts and is currently pursuing a master's degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She acts as a messenger, channeling insights from her meditations and dreams into her work, and seeks to create pieces that invite audiences to feel the full energy of human emotion.
Huaixuan has completed an extensive body of work for both personal and commercial clients. She served as the illustrator for the visual novel An Outcast in Another World and as a character designer for Somndus Studio. Her work has also been featured in numerous gallery shows and exhibitions, including the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery and ArtExpo New York.
Huaixuan's art is more than a reflection of her imagination. It is a universal language of emotion and mystery. Through her work, she invites viewers to resonate deeply and to see themselves reflected in the world she creates.
My work is deeply shaped by dreams and meditation, giving it a surreal and introspective quality. Before painting, I immerse myself in the memory of a dream — recalling its smallest details and, more importantly, reconnecting with the emotions I felt. I amplify those feelings until they become physically intense, and I hold onto that sensation throughout the entire process. The images and emotions in my work often echo shared experiences rooted in cultural memory, and I believe that as people grow older, they gradually lose touch with their feelings. My paintings are an effort to fully capture those feelings before they fade.
I believe the emotions an artist puts into a work do not disappear. They remain embedded like imprints. Because emotion is a universal language, viewers from any background can connect with what lives inside an image. I hope my paintings awaken personal memories and invite each viewer to feel something of their own.
Alongside traditional painting, I work digitally as a fantasy illustrator, exploring epic and spiritual themes influenced by meditation and the occult. Even in digital work, I strive to recreate the texture of traditional painting and center the inner emotional life of each character.
I believe art is the highest form of hope, and through mine, I invite viewers to step into a world of memory and feeling.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Connie Rogers has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and she will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.
Connie is an award-winning artist based in Florida, USA. She was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 32nd Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified her work to be showcased in this feature.
Her Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to hundreds of major news outlets. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting her artwork in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.
Below are Connie’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 of her mixed media artworks that include photography with oil painting, acrylic painting & digital painting submitted to this competition.
Connie Rogers is a self-taught photographer and acrylic artist whose work centers on translating atmosphere and motion into visually immersive imagery. Her art reflects a deep attentiveness to light, shadows and land capturing moments that feel both fleeting and timeless. Through her work, Rogers transforms natural and everyday scenes into expressive visual stories that invite extended viewing and contemplation.
Much of Rogers’ imagery originates from her travels and time spent in Colorado, NY, Georgia, California, and the Mediterranean region of France. These locations provide varied terrain, climate, and tonal character, all of which influence her creative direction. Rather than staging scenes, mostly, she responds intuitively to her surroundings—observing shifts in light, subtle movement in water or foliage, and the quiet tension between stillness and motion. These observations guide how each image is framed and later developed.
Her creative process often begins with photography, which conveys mood through balance, scale, and natural contrast. She then refines her imagery using digital processes that deepen tonal range, enhance spatial presence, and strengthen visual impact while maintaining the integrity of the original scene.
Recently, Rogers has expanded her practice by incorporating acrylic paint over photo prints on paper. This layered approach introduces texture, color, and movement, allowing her to reinterpret the image while preserving its foundation.
A blending of mediums creates work that exists between realism and mood. This stems from her painting by numbers as a child, dedicating cherry reds where yellows were indicated, a more favored flavor.
With the flow of water, the direction of wind, or the rhythm of clouds, she adds a sense of drama. Each piece evolves slowly, shaped by multiple stages of refinement and artistic response rather than a fixed endpoint. Most times beckoning hours of concentration.
Rogers’ completed works are designed to feel inviting and immersive, encouraging viewers to slow down and engage with the image on a deeper level. Rogers is Influenced by the dramatic tonal depth of Ansel Adams and the expressive waterscapes found in Wyland’s work, as she continues to explore how imagery can convey presence, movement, reflection, curiosity, and an enduring appreciation for the outdoors. Her happy place, indeed.
I am a self-taught recognized and award-winning photographer whose creative practice has developed through years of dedicated observation, experimentation, and personal exploration. My work emerges from an ongoing dialogue between environment and emotion, where visual experience becomes a means of translating what I see into form. Each finished piece represents an internal resolution reached through sustained engagement.
Landscape and waterscape subjects dominate my portfolio, shaped by a preference for motion, openness, and unrestrained expression. I am drawn to scenes that suggest momentum rather than stillness, where wind, water, light, or terrain appear unstable. (i.e. a bird lands in a tree and in a split second, disappears, OR avalanche control, using dynamite, can change the mountain terrain) These environments offer endless variation, allowing imagination to evolve without confinement or repetition. I respond intuitively, and impulsively to guide framing, perspective, and eventual interpretation.
For this showcase, I present work spanning multiple materials and methods, unified by a focus on the natural world. While my imagery originates in what lies before me, the final result extends beyond me. Color becomes my universal language. Undertones reflect my inner response. The scene transforms according to the feeling present at that precise instant, resulting in imagery shaped as much by perception as by location.
Here, my intention remains consistent: to create work that honors harmony, visual balance, and a sense of quiet connection. Whether applying paint or capturing a fleeting instant through a lens in the Rocky Mountains, or the Pacific Ocean, I work from the conviction that solitude outdoors carries profound meaning. Being immersed within open spaces offers me clarity unavailable elsewhere, shaping both subject matter and my artistic direction.
My hope remains simple yet enduring—to encourage viewers toward deeper awareness, inviting recognition of the remarkable presence surrounding them daily. Art, for me, serves as an invitation to slow down, speed up, or change perception, to reconsider familiar surroundings, and rediscover beauty already waiting in plain sight.

Presented below are Yanrong Zhou's artist biography and statement, together with 10 of her acrylic paintings. We encourage you to peruse her information and admire her art.
Over the course of her career, Yanrong Zhou has built a distinguished record of recognition in pastel painting across both national and international exhibitions. Her work first gained attention in 2018, when Looking Up received a Nomination Award and Pulling Weeds earned an Excellence Award at the National Pastel Art Exhibitions held by Suzhou Ming Art Museum. This momentum continued into 2019, when White was selected for the prestigious 47th Annual Exhibition of the Pastel Society of America, and Sublimation claimed another Excellence Award in Suzhou. Her 2022 pastel Sea went on to win Second Prize at the Shanghai Pastel Painting Summer Online Exhibition, further cementing her standing in the Chinese pastel art community.
In the years since, Zhou's work has been consistently recognized at the national level. Not Being the Boss for Years was selected into the 4th National Pastel Exhibition of China in 2023, and Master Wu was featured in the 5th "Xu Beihong Spirit" Chinese Painting and Oil Painting Exhibition in early 2024. More recently, Waiting received an Excellence Award at the 2024 New Year Online Exhibition of 89 Art Community, while Nobody Cares earned a place in multiple 2025 pastel exhibitions. Rounding out her international reach, Looking Up was awarded an Honorary Nomination at the 2025 American Portrait Art Competition and was selected into a female painters invitational exhibition the same year.
I use my brush like a hoe and have worked on my three-foot canvas for over thirty years. I believe true art is not far away but in every breath, and my brush is an honest witness that only paints what I see with my eyes and hold in my heart. What the paint builds up is not perfect technique, but the rough and warm texture of life itself. In an era swept by fast-paced culture, I choose to stick to slowness, letting my colors stay bright and unfading, and I only do one thing: use my brush to fight against forgetting. I think the value of art lies not in depicting grand spectacles, but in finding eternal beauty in the small, ordinary parts of life. Every stroke of color is a quiet whisper between me and the world, and every work is a snapshot of time like amber. In this age of hurry, I am willing to be a slow craftsman, observing the world in a simple way and spending the rest of my life in this sincere dialogue with beauty. My creed is not in words, but in every unfinished painting and the morning light that will rise again tomorrow.

The lotus symbolizes nobility, integrity, holiness, auspiciousness, and other fine qualities in Chinese culture, and also implies blessings for a happy life. Its characteristic of growing out of the mud yet remaining unstained gives people trapped in hardship and confusion hope for the future.
During the "raging pandemic" in 2020, I hoped that people could break through the "mud of the raging pandemic" and return to an auspicious and beautiful time, so I picked up my brush to paint the hope in my heart. When people overcame the "pandemic," I created works such as Bloom, Autumn Lotus Elegance, and Dream Lotus, forming the Lotus Series.
In Autumn Lotus Elegance, I not only depict the lotus still blooming in the autumn wind but also show the lotus's calmness in facing the coming harsh winter of life through the withered petals and the initial formation of its fruit (seed pods). They symbolize my yearning for a holy, auspicious, and beautiful life.

These elements were evaluated and judged, resulting in the selection of the artists who will be featured in individual month-long solo art exhibitions.
Below are Daina’s Artist Biography and her Artist Statement, along with thirteen of her hand drawn digital artworks. We hope that you will take the time to read her information and to take a look at her images.
Daina Valiulis is a multidisciplinary Canadian artist whose practice bridges storytelling, energy work, and visual art. After more than a decade designing and illustrating costumes for film and television, Daina turned her creative lens inward—toward the unseen realms of intuition, energy, and frequency. Drawing from her background as a classically trained actress, she approaches image-making as performance in stillness: a way to embody story through vibration and color.
Her current body of work, Soul Frequency, channels archetypal and cosmic energies into digital illustrations that act as both visual narratives and energetic transmissions. Each piece emerges from a heart-led, meditative process—translating intuitive knowing into symbolic worlds that invite reflection, healing, and resonance. Daina’s art reminds us that beauty is not only something to be seen, but felt—a living frequency that connects us to the deeper intelligence of being.
Daina also creates textile designs, born out of the knowledge of how clothing affects our energy. These works feature intentional use of colour as frequency, and animal motifs to support the wearer’s energetic field.
Daina’s art has been selected for several online juried art exhibitions including: Palm Art Gallery’s “Afterimage”, KBM Art Gallery’s “Year End Art Extravaganza,” UNC Asheville’s “17th Annual Drawing Discourse” and the Marin Society of Artist’s “Fresh Art” exhibition where she received an Honourable Mention. Daina’s work is under consideration for a Biafarin award and she won 3rd place in the Fusion Art Women’s Art Competition 2025.
I create intuitive digital art as a vessel of frequency - weaving a language beyond words, transmitting energy, emotion, and remembrance, using colour, lines, sigils, animal motifs, and humanoid figures. Each piece begins as a channeled transmission: a pulse of intuitive knowing, an animal spirit, a celestial whisper, or a color vibration asking to be woven into form. Through my work, I translate these unseen energies into visual experiences - sacred patterns, mystical imagery - art that resonates on both a conscious and a subconscious level.
My practice is guided by a desire to stabilize, uplift, and harmonize through visual language. I work with color, form, and rhythm as frequencies- subtle energies that can shift perception and open hearts. My art is both an act of beauty-making and a vessel for insight: it draws from a deep connection to the natural world, to elemental cycles, and to the unseen layers of human experience.

Mikrokosmos is a watercolor series inspired by slime molds—tiny organisms that have survived for 1.5 billion years through cooperation, complex relationships, and collective action. Their quiet intelligence, adaptability, and ability to communicate form a natural metaphor for connection.
The series is built from organic shapes, flowing structures, and light-driven color. Watercolor is a deliberate choice: its transparency and unpredictability allow forms to spread, merge, and leave traces, much like natural processes.
Each painting reflects qualities often associated with humans—openness, perception, connection, coherence, and closeness—inviting reflection on how the strength of life emerges through relationships and mutual support.

These elements were evaluated and judged, resulting in the selection of the artists who will be featured in individual month-long solo art exhibitions.
Below are Katie’s Artist Biography and her Artist Statement, along with 24 of her photographs. We hope that you will take the time to read her information and to take a look at her images.
Katie West is a cultural and travel photographer whose work captures the extraordinary in the ordinary, revealing the shared humanity that connects us across borders, customs, and traditions. Her photographic journey, which fully emerged after retirement from a distinguished arts administration career, transforms everyday moments into compelling visual narratives that celebrate the beauty often overlooked in our daily lives.
West's approach to photography was shaped early by her father, an amateur photographer who maintained a darkroom in their family bathroom. This childhood exposure to the craft was further refined during her college years.. Her studies provided essential grounding in camera techniques, darkroom processes, and the principles of photojournalism—particularly the art of capturing interesting and meaningful moments. This foundation in storytelling through images continues to inform her work today.
Initially focused on landscapes, seascapes, and architectural subjects, West's artistic vision expanded significantly after receiving a 2022 Emerging Artist Fellowship in Photography for her collection of Jamaican photographs from the Delaware Division of the Arts. This recognition encouraged her to broaden both her geographic scope and thematic focus, incorporating people and their stories into her visual narratives. Her work now explores how individuals live—at home, at work, at play, and in their communities—revealing the universal values, needs, and desires that bind humanity together despite surface differences.
West's artistic philosophy centers on understanding, empathy, and love of humanity. By venturing beyond typical tourist destinations, she creates intimate portraits of people in their natural environments, documenting authentic moments that convey the essence of a country or region.
Her technical approach reflects contemporary realities and a commitment to unobtrusive documentation. Working primarily with a high-quality cell phone camera, West embraces the medium's immediacy and accessibility. The ubiquity of smartphones allows her to capture fleeting moments quickly while remaining less intrusive in her subjects' spaces—a crucial consideration when photographing people in their daily lives. For West, photography is an act of the heart; her images capture what her heart sees and feels.
Since unexpectedly receiving her first gallery invitation in 2020 to exhibit Jamaican photographs, West has taught herself the technical aspects of printing, framing, and exhibition. Her work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions across multiple states and internationally online, with five photographs now part of the permanent collection at Delaware's Carvel Building. Through her evolving practice, West continues to build a body of work that celebrates cultural diversity while revealing our fundamental interconnectedness, inviting viewers to see the world—and each other—with fresh eyes and open hearts.
Photography has been woven into the fabric of my life since childhood, when my father's darkroom first introduced me to the magic of capturing light and shadow. College courses in photojournalism deepened this foundation, teaching me to see not just images, but stories. Yet it wasn't until retirement that this lifelong connection to photography transformed into something more urgent—a need to document the beautiful complexity of human experience across cultures and continents.
The work began almost accidentally in 2017, with travel photographs shared casually on social media. An unexpected gallery invitation in 2020 to exhibit Jamaican images became a turning point. That moment launched a self-taught journey into the technical aspects of fine art photography—printing, framing, exhibiting—but more importantly, it crystallized a deeper purpose: to reveal the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary, the universal truths embedded in daily life.
Initially drawn to Jamaica's landscapes, seascapes, and architecture, the focus gradually shifted toward something more intimate—people in their authentic environments. These images document how communities live, work, play, and move through the world. They're attempts to bridge the perceived distances between cultures by highlighting our shared humanity. Despite vast differences in wealth, customs, and traditions, the photographs reveal fundamental connections: the same desires for dignity, joy, and belonging exist everywhere.
The choice of tools reflects this philosophy. Most images are now captured with a cell phone camera rather than traditional equipment. Modern smartphone technology has evolved remarkably, offering excellent image quality while remaining unobtrusive. This matters profoundly when photographing people in their natural habitats. A cell phone is ubiquitous, familiar, non-threatening—it allows genuine moments to unfold without the barrier of professional cameras that can create distance or self-consciousness.
Traveling beyond typical tourist destinations makes this intimacy possible. It creates opportunities to meet people authentically, to be invited into their worlds with understanding and empathy. Each photograph represents more than technical composition or aesthetic beauty—it captures what the heart sees and feels, what resonates on a human level.
The work continues to evolve. An Artist Fellowship provided validation and momentum to expand geographically and thematically, pushing toward images that don't just document but truly convey how people live. Every new location offers fresh perspectives on the infinite variations of human experience, yet each journey reinforces the same truth: we are more alike than different.
This photography practice is ultimately about attention—learning to notice beauty we might otherwise walk past daily, then sharing those discoveries with others. It's about creating visual bridges between worlds, using images to foster empathy and connection across the boundaries that too often divide us.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Marcella Cacucciolo has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and she will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.
Marcella is an award-winning artist based in Italy.
Below are Marcella’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 of her digital artworks to this competition.
Marcella Cacucciolo (EllaMarc Lab) is an Italian digital abstract artist whose work explores themes of inner perception, threshold, and transformation. Her artistic practice is rooted in a continuous investigation of the space between visibility and invisibility, where form emerges from silence and light becomes a structural element rather than a decorative one.
Influenced by introspection, minimal geometry, and the tension between order and fluidity, her work draws inspiration from inner states rather than external narratives. Vertical axes, symmetrical structures, and luminous cores recur throughout her compositions, functioning as visual metaphors for balance, resilience, and inner alignment.
Although her background is not academic in the traditional fine art sense, her artistic development has been shaped by an independent and disciplined practice. She works primarily with digital tools, using layered light, controlled transparency, and precise compositional structures to construct abstract forms that feel both architectural and organic. Her technique is deliberate and process-driven, emphasizing clarity, coherence, and visual depth.
EllaMarc Lab’s work is part of the ongoing Inner Gaze series, a cohesive body of digital artworks focused on introspection as a shared human experience. Rather than offering explicit narratives, her compositions invite viewers to pause, observe, and project their own interpretations into the space of the image. The absence of figurative elements allows the work to function as a mirror—open, silent, and receptive.
Her artistic philosophy centers on restraint and intention. Each piece is reduced to essential elements, avoiding excess in favor of structure, rhythm, and luminous tension. The goal is not to illustrate emotion, but to create a visual environment where emotion can surface naturally.
Through her work, EllaMarc Lab aims to establish a quiet but powerful dialogue with the viewer—one that encourages reflection rather than explanation. Her practice seeks to transform inner complexity into visual clarity, offering images that function as thresholds between inner awareness and shared perception.
The Inner Gaze series originates from an ongoing exploration of inner perception and moments of quiet alignment. This body of work was created from the need to give visual form to interior states that are often difficult to articulate through language, without relying on narrative or figurative representation.
Working with digital abstraction, the artist uses symmetry, vertical structures, and central axes of light as compositional foundations. These elements are employed intentionally to establish balance, stillness, and visual focus. Light is treated as a structural component rather than a decorative effect, guiding the viewer’s attention and shaping the spatial tension within each image.
The creative process is based on reduction and clarity. By limiting visual elements and avoiding explicit symbolism, the work remains open and receptive. Each piece functions as a threshold—an intermediate space where perception can slow down and awareness can surface without direction or imposed meaning. The absence of recognizable figures allows the viewer to engage with the work on a personal and intuitive level.
For the artist, Inner Gaze represents a process of ordering and transformation. It is not an attempt to illustrate specific emotions, but to create conditions in which emotion and reflection may naturally arise. Darkness and light coexist as complementary forces, reinforcing the idea of balance rather than opposition.
This body of work invites viewers to pause and observe rather than interpret. The intention is to offer a contemplative visual experience, where meaning is not explained but gradually revealed through presence, structure, and attention. In this way, Inner Gaze becomes a shared space of perception, open to individual resonance and quiet introspection.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that John Chehak has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and he will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.
John is an award-winning artist based in Iowa, USA. He was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 32nd Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified his artwork to be showcased in this feature.
His Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to hundreds of major news outlets. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting his artwork in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.
Below are John’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 of his artworks submitted to this competition.
John Chehak was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 1973 and began practicing retail pharmacy in his hometown. By his late forties he felt an urge to explore his long dormant artistic abilities. When he decided to pick up a brush, he knew he wanted paint that would dry quickly, was water soluble - but not watercolors, and did not smell. His medium of choice was, and still is, undiluted acrylic paint on paper and canvas.
After participating in local art shows, he began applying to regional art fairs to see if the public was interested in purchasing his work. His work has been featured on the University of Iowa's website the Daily Palette; in 2002 he was chosen to display his artwork in the Iowa Governor's Mansion. One of his early 'Rooftops' paintings was selected as the January 2010 cover photo for JMCP magazine - a magazine for pharmacists. According to Sheila Macho, Cover Editor for JMCP, 'Chehak's Rooftops painting bears a slight resemblance to a Georges Braque Cubist landscape. The scene, reminiscent of an Italian village, appears to be impossibly crowded, yet believable at the same time.'
In 2015 one of his Iowa landscapes was chosen as banner art for the MFA Creative Writing Program at Iowa State University; in 2016, he finished a show at The Biomedical Research Facility at the University of Iowa Medical Campus. In 2018 he was chosen as the Commemorative Print Artist for the 25th Annual St. Louis Art Fair. In 2020 he was the poster artist for the 57th Street Art Fair in Chicago.
As described on the Des Moines based Kavanaugh Gallery's website: 'His muted colors and distinct choice of subject matter have attracted collectors throughout the nation. Many of Chehak's paintings emerge directly from his imagination.'
My art exists to capture the beauty and rhythm of everyday life, transforming familiar landscapes and urban scenes into bold, modern compositions that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and find harmony in color, shape, and light. My focus is on anything that is in front of me at any given time, of which the subject matter is conducive to bold acrylic paint strokes and monochromatic colors. I do not paint to meet the expectations of any audience. My influences are many, my style is fluid; that is, and I am willing to try numerous presentational production values.

Presented below are Song-Zhen's artist biography and statement, together with 15 of her digitally hand-painted artwork. We encourage you to peruse Song-Zhen's information and admire her art.
Song-Zhen Shen Huang is a Chinese American artist born in Shanghai, China. She brings a rich educational background to her artistic practice, having graduated from Donghua University in 1982 with a degree in Textile Pattern Design. After immigrating to the United States, she continued her studies at York College in New York City, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Painting in 1987. She further refined her skills at the prestigious Pratt Institute in New York, completing her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Oil Painting in 1990.
From 1990 to 2025, Huang established herself as a versatile creative professional, working as both an oil painting freelancer and a graphic designer for fashion brands across New York and California. Her career has been marked by a unique ability to blend fine art sensibilities with commercial design expertise.
A pivotal moment in Huang's artistic journey came in 2020 when the global pandemic began. Due to special circumstances, she found herself stranded in the suburbs without access to her traditional painting materials. Rather than letting this challenge hinder her creative output, she embraced innovation by transitioning to digital art, using digital pens to create on screens as a replacement for her beloved oil paintings. This period proved to be extraordinarily productive, resulting in the creation of over one hundred artworks spanning three major series: figures, landscapes, and mixed subjects. Her adaptability and commitment to her craft during this time demonstrates her resilience as an artist and her willingness to explore new mediums and technologies.
Huang's work has garnered significant recognition in the international art community. Between 2022 and 2025, she received twenty awards at various levels in international painting exhibitions, affirming both the quality of her artistic vision and her successful adaptation to digital media. Her achievements reflect a distinguished career that bridges traditional training, commercial design experience, and contemporary digital innovation.
Digital pens serve merely as auxiliary tools for creation. Unlike conventional digital painting, I integrate mechanical digital media with my established oil painting techniques to preserve the warmth of hand-drawn works, enhancing their painterly qualities, expressiveness, and emotional impact.
This hybrid approach to digital hand-painting leverages contemporary tools while maintaining the essential attributes and personal style of traditional painting, effectively resisting visual distractions from digital elements.
Reflecting on years of exploration and dedication, I am grateful for the courage to challenge conventional norms and borrow a ray of color from the clouds, allowing my artworks to take diverse forms. Through digital hand-painting, I have created a unique legacy for my artistic journey.

This “Flowers Speak” collection explores the emotional language of flowers — not just as symbols of beauty, but as vessels of memory, fragility, and resilience. Painted on deep black-brown background, each bloom emerges from darkness with quiet intensity, revealing both vulnerability and strength. My work begins with my own photography. I look for imperfect moments: a broken petal, twisted bud, or leaning stem — signs of survival and emotion. The flowers I paint are not ornamental; they are honest. One of the works, Awakening, is dedicated to cancer survivors. Its green hydrangeas are bitten, uneven, and asymmetrical - but alive, pushing upward. It reflects the heart of this series: how even in damage, there is growth. This floral collection holds space for what remains open, tender, and beautiful - even after pain and loss.
