Carter Scofield – Artist Showcase

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Carter Scofield has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and he will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.

Carter is an award-winning photographer based in Washington, USA. He was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 27th Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified his photographs to be showcased in this feature.

Carter’s Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to hundreds of major news outlets, with inclusion on Google News & Bing News. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting his artwork in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.

Below are Carter’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 digital artworks that were submitted to this competition.

Artist Biography

After being born in Texas, Carter Scofield moved to the small town of Hilo, Hawaii at a young age and spent his time there until moving to Seattle for college. He enjoyed arts and crafts as a kid, but Legos, fantasy books, and playing outdoors were his biggest interests at the time.

He attended Seattle University and graduated with a degree in computer science before starting a career at Microsoft as a software engineer. Aside from an elective “Comics and Cartooning” class, art didn’t have much of a role in his life until the pandemic hit. During lockdown, he rediscovered a passion for art and hasn’t looked back since.

Artist Statement

I got really burnt out right before the start of the pandemic and needed something new to break out of the cycle. I wanted to start creating instead of just consuming, and so I kicked things off with a sketchpad and some sharpies. With the transition to working from home, I decided to decorate the walls of my bedroom turned home office. From there, I picked up acrylic pour painting, 3D printing, sticker-making, and then digital art.

Art is a way for me to express myself and cope with… gestures broadly at everything. I’ve always just made what I want to see and take inspiration from music, other artists, and the people closest to me. I’m always happy to hear when other people enjoy the things I create.

These designs are part of a 1000 piece series I started to pull myself out of grief and back into living.
