McCord, a self-taught artist, has produced a new body of abstract acrylic art by experimenting with paint formulas to create unusual cells, lacing, textures and sensual colors. The scientific process and new discoveries are what makes her work stand out.
McCord is best known for figurative paintings in watercolor and acrylic. Of her abstracts she says, “The compositional concepts and color theory work the same way regardless of subject matter. What’s different and so addictive is the freedom creating abstract art gives me.” She was a gallery owner for 10 years, and taught painting and printmaking at her local college.
