The “Solo Art Series” highlights the work of established artists, who have a body of work to showcase, through a series of online monthly solo exhibitions. Artist participants were asked to submit the following 3 components for the “Solo Art Series” competition: 1. Their art. 2. Their artist biography. 3. Their artist statement. A careful evaluation of the submissions led to the selection of four artists for month-long solo shows, ensuring a diverse range of artistic styles and approaches would be featured.
Presented below are Maureen's artist biography and statement, together with 24 of her digital artworks. We encourage you to peruse Maureen's information and admire her art.
Maureen Ravnik was born and raised in Minnesota. She attended the University of Colorado to pursue a career in sales & marketing. Working and traveling a lot in that discipline opened her eyes to the wonders of the natural world and reawakened childhood tendencies to creatively document her discoveries. Upon retirement, she began in earnest to pursue that dream.
Maureen has placed in the Audubon International Top 250, local, national, international juried photography exhibitions, monthly club competitions, and state park calendars. Her images have been selected for use by the City of Littleton, and National Geographic for publication, as well as several newspapers. She has co-authored 2 books that document the history of the second largest natural area in the country. Maureen has also served as a juror for the Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts in Colorado.
My methods and techniques are largely self-taught. I am deeply inspired by the work of Ansel Adams and Art Wolfe. My work is also derived from my imagination which is ultimately a collection of a lifetime of experiences.
My greatest satisfaction comes from developing composites. My final work is either straight out of the camera or created using a blend of photographs. My fine art photography may reflect the use of 1-5 photos. The results reflect the soulful fingerprint that expresses my feelings about my subject matter. My work is delivered in an array of styles that arc between realism, passionately abstract and doggedly figurative. The images presented here are a blend of photographs. They represent subject matter I am very passionate about.
