Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is proud to announce that Song-Zhen Shen Huang has been selected as one of four winners in Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery's 32nd "Solo Art Series" Art Competition. Song-Zhen’s month-long solo art exhibition will be featured on the gallery’s website, YouTube channel, and in the “Solo Art Series” Archive.
Song-Zhen is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning artist based in Little Neck, New York, USA. The gallery will now promote her with an extensive online public relations campaign.
Promotion of Song-Zhen’s solo exhibition will include the distribution of press releases to hundreds of major news outlets. The Gallery will leverage Light Space & Time’s extensive social media network to promote Song-Zhen and her art.
Song-Zhen's work will also be showcased on the gallery's YouTube channel, and promoted via an event postcard, award ribbon, and certificate.
The “Solo Art Series” highlights the work of established artists, who have a body of work to showcase, through a series of online monthly solo exhibitions. Artist participants were asked to submit the following 3 components for the “Solo Art Series” competition: 1. Their art. 2. Their artist biography. 3. Their artist statement. A careful evaluation of the submissions led to the selection of four artists for month-long solo shows, ensuring a diverse range of artistic styles and approaches would be featured.

Song-Zhen Shen Huang is a Chinese American artist born in Shanghai, China. She brings a rich educational background to her artistic practice, having graduated from Donghua University in 1982 with a degree in Textile Pattern Design. After immigrating to the United States, she continued her studies at York College in New York City, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Painting in 1987. She further refined her skills at the prestigious Pratt Institute in New York, completing her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Oil Painting in 1990.
From 1990 to 2025, Huang established herself as a versatile creative professional, working as both an oil painting freelancer and a graphic designer for fashion brands across New York and California. Her career has been marked by a unique ability to blend fine art sensibilities with commercial design expertise.
A pivotal moment in Huang's artistic journey came in 2020 when the global pandemic began. Due to special circumstances, she found herself stranded in the suburbs without access to her traditional painting materials. Rather than letting this challenge hinder her creative output, she embraced innovation by transitioning to digital art, using digital pens to create on screens as a replacement for her beloved oil paintings. This period proved to be extraordinarily productive, resulting in the creation of over one hundred artworks spanning three major series: figures, landscapes, and mixed subjects. Her adaptability and commitment to her craft during this time demonstrates her resilience as an artist and her willingness to explore new mediums and technologies.
Huang's work has garnered significant recognition in the international art community. Between 2022 and 2025, she received twenty awards at various levels in international painting exhibitions, affirming both the quality of her artistic vision and her successful adaptation to digital media. Her achievements reflect a distinguished career that bridges traditional training, commercial design experience, and contemporary digital innovation.
Digital pens serve merely as auxiliary tools for creation. Unlike conventional digital painting, I integrate mechanical digital media with my established oil painting techniques to preserve the warmth of hand-drawn works, enhancing their painterly qualities, expressiveness, and emotional impact.
This hybrid approach to digital hand-painting leverages contemporary tools while maintaining the essential attributes and personal style of traditional painting, effectively resisting visual distractions from digital elements.
Reflecting on years of exploration and dedication, I am grateful for the courage to challenge conventional norms and borrow a ray of color from the clouds, allowing my artworks to take diverse forms. Through digital hand-painting, I have created a unique legacy for my artistic journey.
